The Best Nokia Android Phones You Can Buy Right Now

Do you remember when Nokia was one of the biggest players in the mobile space? We do too. It was back when BlackBerry and Motorola were huge too, before the iPhone was even a thing.

Then the smartphone revolution happened. While BlackBerry and Motorola floundered in a tide of new Samsung, Sony, HTC, and Apple iPhone devices vying for position, Nokia made the decision to ally itself to Microsoft and became exclusively all about the Windows Phone platform.

That turned out to be a bit of an error. Windows Phone took a long time to die, but die it did.

Now though, after a short hiatus (where Microsoft and Nokia's contractual obligations needed to tick down and expire) Nokia’s well and truly back in the game.

The firm made a smarter and bolder move this time round in teaming up with HMD Global, and thanks to this shrewd play the Nokia brand is once again emblazoned across a whole range of new smartphones.

Best of all, these Nokia phones are running Android.

Stock Android, that is.

Oh yes.

Nokia's done a bang up job of keeping what we and many others loved about the brand - high quality externals, nicely optimised hardware and software, and plenty of care and attention put into the audiovisual and camera experiences too.

That means they're all very polished devices, and Nokia's also made sure to create a model at virtually every price point, meaning there really is something for everyone, whatever your budget.

Nokia 3

The baby of the family and the cheapest member at only £129, putting it squarely in the budget category. Don’t let that fool you into thinking this is a load of tat, however, as the specs are extremely competitive for its class.

And as you can see, it’s pretty stunning to look at too.

Nokia 5

The Nokia 5 has a mid-range spec, but by undercutting the £200 barrier by a significant margin makes itself much more attractive.

Nokia’s really pushed the boat out with trying to make this phone look good with a curved, all-metal, aluminium unibody design which mirrors the more expensive models in the range.

Add to that a really impressive camera and display, as well as a massive battery, and it’s a compelling package all round for £179.

Nokia 6

The Nokia 6 has sold like crazy in every market it has been introduced to, and with good reason. At a little over £200 it’s still a value prospect as there are some noteable spec bumps up from the Nokia 5, including a Full HD display resolution, an improved camera, and enhanced audio.

It also has more RAM and significantly more storage. The RRP is £219.

A quick note; the Nokia 6 Arte Black colour option is a Limited Edition version with a gloss finish and features 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of onboard storage.

All the other colours have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

Nokia 8

This is the big daddy. The flagship. The Nokia 8 has a spec that can go toe-to-toe with all the other major flagships released by rivals inside 2017.

It has a gorgeous full-metal exterior, Qualcomm’s best Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, a QHD display, and stacks of onboard storage space.

On top of that it has a dual-sensor camera with Carl Zeiss optics for some of the best mobile photography in the business, including 4K video capture with OZO 360-degree spatial audio recording, and Dual-Sight, simultaneous front-and-rear camera split-screen capture and recording.

It all comes at a premium, mind you, as the Nokia 8 will set you back £499. That said, this is MUCH cheaper than a lot of other flagships on the market, such as Samsung's Galaxy S9 series, and the Apple iPhone, both of which will cost you £800+. It's really more in the OnePlus 6 territory in terms of price point and bang for buck, as well as that sweet, sweet stock Android, which you just don't get on those £800 beasts.
